For those of you who find lounging around the pool just too tricky, there are lots of more energetic activities.
Golf and tennis are a short drive away or if horse riding is more your passion, take a hack through oak forests and stunning countryside – you could take a relaxing carriage ride, stopping for a picnic in a beautiful shady spot.
There are some beautiful walks around Finca el Almendrillo. You could try walking through the almond groves and ruined mill of Fuente del Conde, finishing with a picnic by the river and a refreshing dip. Or there are spectacular walks at Torcal. The extraordinary limestone landscape is only found here. Think science fiction movies! You can also discover the cave houses on the way into the village, stopping at Antonio’s for an ice cold beer – you’ll have earned it!
Or try skiing in the Sierra Nevada. In March 2012 the ski resort will host the Junior World Snowboarding Championships!
